Kanban (work moving across columns) is how software teams ship, but it’s just as good at running a household, a job hunt, or a semester. The problem is that most kanban board apps are built for teams: sprints, assignees, standups, and a pricing page that assumes you’re a company.
A personal kanban board needs less, done better: columns that match your life, a way to see only what matters right now, and zero project-management ceremony.
Why kanban works for personal tasks
- It makes work visible. A pile of 40 todos is anxiety; the same 40 cards sorted into columns is a map.
- It limits work in progress. You can only do one thing at a time: a “Right Now” column enforces that honesty.
- Progress is physical. Dragging a card to Done is a small, real reward.
