A to-do list app that works offline. No account required.
How to use Nydhei entirely on your device: no sign-up, no internet needed, with optional end-to-end encrypted sync when you want it.
Most task apps demand an email address before you can write down “buy milk.” Then they quietly require a connection for everything, and your list is suddenly a login screen when you’re on a plane, underground, or just out of coverage.
If you’re searching for a to-do list app without an account or an offline todo app, the fix is an app that’s local-first: your data lives on your device, and the network is optional.
How Nydhei works offline
- No sign-up wall. On first launch, choose Continue without signing in and start immediately. Nothing about you is collected. There’s no “you” on any server. See Welcome to Nydhei.
- Everything works on-device. Your board, planner, notes, and lists are stored locally. Airplane mode changes nothing.
- Nothing expires. An offline list isn’t a trial. Use Nydhei on one device, account-free, for as long as you like.
When you do want sync
The usual trade-off with offline apps is that adding a second device means either manual exports or giving up privacy. Nydhei’s answer: sign in only when you want sync, and your data is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves the device. The server stores ciphertext it cannot read.
- Sign in from the app when you’re ready.
- Link your other device.
- Keep your recovery phrase somewhere safe. It’s your key, not Nydhei’s.
Read how syncing behaves in Sync and what’s protected in End-to-end encryption.
Getting started offline, step by step
- Install Nydhei on Android or iOS.
- Tap Continue without signing in.
- Create your first task. Try typing naturally: quick syntax fills in dates and categories.
- Open the Planner and drag the task onto today’s dial.
That’s a complete, private planning system, and you never entered an email address.
